MONTROSE— While we never need an excuse to enjoy authentic regional Mexican cuisine in Houston, here's one anyway: Cuchara will be donating $5 for every $35 you spend there between Aug. 22 to 28 to support Hermann Park Conservancy, an organization that works to maintain and improve Hermann Park. The $35 can be spent on drinks, food, catering or gift cards. [Eaterwire]

PEARLAND— As we mentioned yesterday, this weekend marks the debut of a collaboration between Killen's Barbecue and Pena's Donut Heaven: brisket-filled kolaches. They'll be priced at $2.99 a piece and will be available at the Pena's location in Shadow Creek and at the Pearland 'cue joint beginning Saturday. Here, the Chronicle's Alison Cook comments on the meaty hybrid: "It reflects the trait that has most defined Houston food in recent decades: our enthusiastic borrowing from the diverse culinary strains that converge here."[Houston Chronicle]

POP-UP WIRE— Sugar Fairy/Sugar Hooker/Fluff Bake Bar owner Rebecca Masson will host another pop-up bake sale at Southside Espresso on Saturday at 8 a.m. The treats sell out fast, so get there early to feast on kimchi croissants with bacon jam, pain au chocolat and more. More info here. [Eaterwire]
