Southern Goods Signs Lease, Plans for January Opening

It will replace Table 19 in The Heights.

Now that the ink has dried, Southern Goods can finally call The Heights home. The restaurant, serving Southern and Gulf Coast cuisine, made the announcement yesterday evening that it has signed a lease, revealing the 632 W 19th address on its Facebook page.

This news confirms the rumors of Southern Goods occupying the former Table 19 restaurant, which closed in June (rumors that were fueled by an address previously posted on Facebook by the restaurant before deleting it).

The casual Southern Goods is a collaboration between Liberty Station and Cottonwood owner, Charles Bishop and Underbelly sous chef Lyle Bento. Southern staples like fried chicken and Gulf seafood will be showcased, as will Tex Mex and Creole/Cajun cuisines. There will also be a bar serving Southern spirits and beer. If the stars align and permitting doesn't hit a snag, Bishop and Bento hope to serve up their down home cooking in January.
