After Cafe Japon shuttered last month, readers asked for a follow up regarding the longtime restaurant's replacement. It took some digging and probing, but it's now known what is moving into the space off Kirby and the Southwest Freeway. Unfortunately it's not another full on restaurant.
Brad Elmore of NewQuest Properties confirmed World of Beer will take over the property later this year. The Tampa-based beer bar chain is known for its focus on craft beers and highlighting local breweries, similar to Southern beer emporium chain The Flying Saucer. No word yet if this location will serve food like its other two Houston-area locations in Katy and Sugar Land, but it's likely since the space includes a kitchen. Beer nerds can rejoice in knowing there's another viable craft beer-centric option on the way in addition to nearby The Queen & Vic and McGonigel's Mucky Duck .
