Beckrew Wine House, previously occupied by The Tasting Room River Oaks (which closed in November), will likely open in February. The wine bar revealed their plans to replace the shuttered Lasco Enterprises owned concept in October, but more details have begun to emerge.

In addition to a curated wine roster featuring small vineyard selections by general manager and wine director William Fuller, Beckrew has collaborated with a host of well-known local heavy hitters who share Beckrew’s quest for exceptional quality. Blacksmith's David Buehrer is assisting with the forthcoming coffee program and fare from Chantel & Dragana’s Gourmandisis, Houston Dairymaids, and Kraftsman Baking will be available during breakfast, lunch and dinner services.

Known for her work with Oxheart, Camerata and Public Services, designer Gin Braverman is putting his touch on the 2409 W Alabama space, adding metallics and brown leather throughout with distressed brick and brass accents.

"Beckrew’s concept is based on the philosophy that the right combination of food, wine, and atmosphere can lead to an unparalleled feeling of enjoyment," shares owner Chris David. Overall, the menu will be simple but well executed. David notes he's drawn his "inspiration from wine bars and enotecas in Italy and lower Manhattan."
