Blacksmith recently celebrated its second anniversary and is keeping the party going all year long with a revamped menu. Unfortunately, this means a few items will be retired (so long chicken cabbage croissant and grilled cheese), but two new sandwich additions created by recent hire Priscilla Nguyen - a law school drop-out turned Art Institute of Houston culinary student - will equally satisfy.
Nguyen is churning out drool-worthy sandwiches guaranteed to keep Blacksmith as one of your go-to lunch destinations. Joining the roster of sandwiches that include the BLT with pickles green tomatoes are the Pate So Sammy and Benton's Ham and Brie Sammy. A take on a traditional Vietnamese sandwich, the Pate So Sammy combines Saigon pork patty with a Nuoc Mam (fish sauce) slaw and an egg for $8. Benton's Ham and Brie Sammy is the best of the South (country ham) with brie and pear mostarda smothered between slices of potato bread for $9. Add a beet and orzo salad with lemon vinaigrette or one of three other new sides priced at $3.
