Nowadays, restaurants are becoming casualties of developers looking to set up shop and build expensive luxury apartments and mixed-use complexes. But not Kiran's at 4100 Westheimer. In November, Houston Restaurant Weeks founder Cleverley Stone revealed on her weekly radio show Kiran Verma's upscale Indian restaurant and others businesses nearby would likely move or close. In their places, a new development consisting of either luxury apartments or a retail and living complex.
Emails inquiring about the move to Verma went unanswered and Kiran's publicists declined to respond, but today, a the well-regarded chef released a response through a newsletter addressing the rumored move:
Happy New Year To All Our Guests!
Thank you so much for dining with us for these last (almost) 10 years. I have enjoyed cooking for all of you and plan to continue for many more years.
To mine and everyone's relief, we are not moving and staying put at this location. We are very thankful that there will be no construction/demolition on our site for some time.
So let's celebrate good food at Kiran's in 2015.
We'll toast to that.
