Just after surpassing its one year anniversary, Main Kitchen — the restaurant in the new JW Marriott Houston Downtown — has hired a new executive sous chef, Jelle Vandenbroucke to assist executive chef Erin Smith. Vandenbroucke, a Belgium native who began cooking at 12 years old, is classically trained in French cuisine. He has worked at two Michelin-awarded restaurants (Hertog Jan in Bruges, Belgium, Mulberry Restaurant in Charlton House, UK), and several Four Seasons Resorts including those in Seattle and Boston. According to Smith, Jelle shares the restaurant's passion for working with local purveyors and creating seasonal menus.
