State of Grace, the River Oaks restaurant that has kept Houstonians salivating on edge for months, has finally opened its doors. These days, owner and chef Ford Fry calls Atlanta home, but truth be told he's a Texan and a native to the area. The homecoming venture for the James Beard-Nominated chef promises to bring nostalgia of Texas ranch fare and Gulf Coast Seafood.
Four menus are presented for lunch, dinner, the raw bar and dessert with cocktails. While the Texas theme is the underpinning common denominator, there are some clever deviations if not down right tips of the hat to Houston's diverse culinary scene such as Korean fried chicken and enchiladas "A La Felix", a nod to the Mexican restaurant which was replaced with Uchi. A wood-burning stove ensures the quality of the smoke and an oyster bar and cocktail program further round out the menu that aims to showcase Fry's childhood.
