Considered a BBQ pit master and smoke master, Ronnie Killen is a legend in the meat game. His Killen's Steakhouse is also regarded as one of the best in the country and Houston Chronicle critic Alison Cook ranked it No. 22 in her Top 100 Restaurants list for 2014. Headlines were made again when recent announcements to shut down the location and move the entire operation surfaced. Although just going about two miles away from the original and staying in Pearland just south of Houston, the move was a major undertaking and overhaul.
For months the new restaurant remained as one of the most anticipated openings of the year. "It's beautiful," Killen said of the space which was previously the home of Malibu Steak and Seafood, and includes 2.5 acres with 200 parking spaces at 6425 Broadway. Added features like a dry-aging room, expansive bar and a banquet room space. The former steakhouse location will be converted into Killen's future concept, Killen's Burgers, which is anticipated to open sometime in 2016.
