Hit the Trail and Wrangle Up These Go Texan Day Specials

It's rodeo time, y'all.

Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet
  • Brennan's of Houston

Ditch the dressy attire and mosey on over to Brennan's in your favorite pair of jeans. Throw on your boots while you're at it because it's the restaurant's annual Go Texan Day celebration. Midtown's historic Creole restaurant is dishing out a prix-fixe menu for today's modern cowboy and cowgirl: Goat Barbacoa Tamale, 44 Farms Cheeseburger (beef, rattlesnake chili, onion rings, cheddar, Sazerac steak sauce and bone marrow aioli on a pretzel bun) and Strawberry Jubilee Funnel Cake.

  • MKT Bar

Lasso the nearest parking, then pull up a chair at MKT Bar. Phoenicia's in-store cafe is taking it back to the days of the old west with chuckwagon-inspired dinner. Bring a hearty appetite to rustle up one or more of the following from the Go Texan Day menu: frito pie w/ Haig’s dhili ($8); barbecue ribs with sweet potato salad ($12.99 ); ribeye with iron-skillet baked beans and coleslaw ($12.99 );  double-cut pork chop with iron-skillet baked beans and coleslaw ($17); mile high key lime pie ($7). No moonshine here to wet your whistle but there's Texas beer flights and specials on Texas wines.

  • Chick-fil-A

Before making your way to the rodeo, stop by Chick-fil-A in Sawyer Heights (2222 Shearn) and in the East End (5940 Gulf Freeway). You're already sporting you finest western threads, so why not wrangle yourself a free chicken sandwich? The offer is available to all donning their best cowboy and cowgirl wear until 10 p.m.
