Washington Avenue may not be the late night hub it once was a few years ago, but that isn't stopping bars from taking a chance on the still thriving corridor. Joining La Roux and Black Orchid, the nightclub, cocktail lounge and tasting menu concepts opening this year at 4003 Washington Avenue, are Concrete Cowboy and Fuego's Saloon.
This isn't the first rodeo for Concrete Cowboy. Based out of Dallas, the hip Western-themed bar recently expanded into Austin and will soon do the same in Houston. Taking over the former Chopping Block Gourmet Burger spot at 5317 Washington Avenue, the bar was expected to open last summer but is slated to open late spring. It's a mix of sports bar and club atmosphere all rolled into one, but will it draw in the crowds seen at its North Texas and Hill Country locations when party goers are flocking to Midtown for a good time on the town?
Located on Off Washington Avenue is Fuego's Saloon, currently under construction at 817 Durham. According to its Facebook page, it will be an "indoor/outdoor bar with [a] huge outdoor deck" and will have "numerous TVs for watching your favorite sports games."
