Pondicheri will be joining Houston's Vic & Anthony's in New York City soon. Anita Jaisinghani confirmed to Houston Business Journal the expansion of the Indika successor into the Big Apple. Last month, the James Beard-nominated chef sung a different tune. When rumors arose of her intent to open a NYC location last month, she brushed them aside. With a lease signed, Jaisinghani makes it official, planning to open her first East Coast outpost by the end of the year.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Pondicheri will reside on the first floor of the 11-story building on West 27th Street in the Flatiron district, the first tenant to sign on for ground retail. Before setting her sights on the city that never sleeps, the restaurantuer/chef revealed Austin was her original target to the Houston Business Journal . Although Jaisinghani wasn't able to make it work this time around, she still has plans for the Hill Country after the New York location is up and running.
