LoopNet

A listing for Georges Bistro, the French restaurant located at 219 Westheimer, appeared on real estate website LoopNet a few weeks ago. Owned by Houston's prominent French chef Georges Guy and wife Monique, the 3,114 square-foot Montrose bistro has an an asking price of $1,295,000. What's included for over a millon dollars? According to the listing:

Permits grandfathered in! Grease trap in place. Gorgeous outdoor patio with woodburning pizza oven. Remodeled in 2005/2014.
Ready for new owner.

Previously occupied by Guy's Chez Georges, followed by nose-to-tail restaurant Feast, the husband and wife team of Georges Bistro revived their French restaurant last year. Opened for nearly a year, is the restaurant on the verge of closing so soon? No, according to co-owner Monique Guy.

When asked about the listing and whether the couple were returning to their retired life, Guy insisted the restaurant is doing fine. "We listed the property to see what kind of interest it would generate," says Guy who further declined to reveal if anyone made a viable offer for the 5,500 square-foot lot. With Houston's hot real estate market, it's likely the couple received their fair share of offers. At least for the time being, you can still fulfill of chef Georges Guy's French fare. That's something to rejoice about.
