You Could Be Tearing Into Christian's Tailgate's Burgers in Downtown Soon

The growing sports bar expands its reach into the heart of Houston.

Let's face it, there aren't many options for great burgers downtown. While Hubcap Grill, eT Craft Burgers and Market Square Bar & Grill serve up tasty fare, downtown's overall  burger landscape has been dormant since Burger Guys' departure nearly three years ago. But that's about to change.

Expanding into downtown soon is Christian's Tailgate, the burger-centric sports bar with locations in Midtown, the Heights, Washington Avenue and the Energy Corridor, which opened last December. The sports bar unveiled a picture of an alcohol license application posted on a window at 1012 Congress, alerting Facebook fans of its impending arrival:

Additional details regarding Christian's Tailgate's projected opening date and plans for the Pillot Building in which it resides weren't immediately available.

As the 300 block of Main nears its capacity of bars, more late night options are popping up close by. Other newcomers opening soon include: craft beer bar and gastropub Bovine & Barley; cocktail-focused Barringer Bar & Lounge; Live Sports Bar; Prohibition's underground beer garden and food hall Conservatory; a Southern-themed concept from the folks behind Beer Market Co. and Crisp; and a bar possibly from the Kirby Group (Wooster's Garden, shuttered OTC on Kirby, plus other Upper Kirby and Washington Ave bars).
