When you think of the million-dollar neighborhood River Oaks, barbecue is the last thing to come to mind. That may be changing soon if Grant Pinkerton of Pinkerton's Barbecue has his way. Houston Chronicle reports the catering company recently signed a lease to open its first a brick-and-mortar outpost in the ritzy area.
After weeks of teasing followers on Facebook and Instagram, Pinkerton revealed the former auto-repair at 2612 Joanel St will be transformed into his smokehouse. It'll be located in a neighborhood where the pitmaster grew up and attended Lamar High School. Barbecue enthusiasts can expect Central Texas-style 'cue, a cooking method the native Houstonian was drawn to while living in Austin and attending University of Houston.
In addition to slow-smoked pits, Pinkerton's menu will also include jalapeno cheese rice, beans, and of course potato salad made from scratch. Pinkerton's Barbecue is projected to open in August.
