Vegetarian-friendly Udipi Cafe is joining the world of food trucks. The south Indian restaurant is roaming the streets of Houston, serving a meat-free menu from its recently launched food truck, Udipi on Wheels. It's one of several trucks owner Sathish Marathe-Rao is bringing across Houston to Indian food deprived neighborhoods.
Currently Udipi Cafe has three locations: Mahatma Gandhi District, Sugar Land and Katy, but the truck will provide southern Indian fare to those who aren't able to make the drive to either eatery. The offerings will consist of crepe-like dosas, hearty chatts and fragrant curries. While Udipi on Wheels specializes in vegetarian food, non-vegetarian selections will be available from the restaurant's second food truck Dosa Republic, also offering vegetarian options.
Udipi on Wheels plans to hit the streets of Clear Lake this month. More locations will be announced on Facebook in the coming weeks.
