The drawn out saga of the 1001 Studewood property may be coming to an end. After sightings of construction work for weeks that hinted towards the possibility of a new tenant, it's safe to report a restaurant is on the way.
Coming to the corner of Studewood and East 10th Street, a bistro presumably named Black & White. According to Facebook, the restaurant's concept will focus on Mediterranean fare and seafood:
Contemporary restaurant of Mediterranean Fare and Seafood in the exciting Heights area in Houston, Texas.
No additional information was available at the time and a request for comment wasn't returned. While this new found evidence sheds some light on what's to come, it may be too soon to become excited.
A prime space on one of the Height's busiest streets, this property has had a difficult time keeping tenants. Once housing Robert Gadsby's Bedford in 2008, followed by Bryan Caswell's Stella Sola, Killen's Steakhouse and Yucatan Taco Stand faced hindrances of their own, each pulling out of the property before their restaurants were completed. Hopefully Black & White will be able to see this restaurant through.
Update 3:26 p.m.: Black & White updated its Facebook status moments ago, informing everyone the bistro is expected to open in a few months (also removed Washington Heights from its bio, corrections made above.):
