Is Hefley's Calling it Quits in Midtown?

New, 1 comment

A real estate listing may have the answer.

Hefley's

According to a tipster, there will be one less bar on West Gray. Hefley's, a bar located at 138 W. Gray, is apparently closing.

A listing for the 4,001-sq.-ft. property appeared on LoopNet earlier this week. Accessible only to premium searchers, the bar is described as second generation restaurant/bar with two floors and a patio. Also noted to potential leasees is a tidbit that the current tenant is still operating. Calls to the bar went unanswered and neither the owner or manager were ever available to comment.

Hefley's opened in 2010 at a time when bar hopping on West Gray was in. With the bar scene shifting to a more concentrated area along Smith and Bagby, West Gray is becoming Midtown's Restaurant Row. Japanese and sushi restaurant The Fish, CoCo Crepes, Russo's Pizzeria and Cyclone Anaya's have long been mainstays in the neighborhood but more are on the way.

Joining recently opened Oporto Fooding House & Wine, which sits across from the listed property are Azuma Group's Izakaya, Rebecca Mason's Fluff Bake Bar, salad and wrap joint Freshhi and Rico's in Midtown Park. A few blocks over, Lucky Chopra's The Republic Smokehouse and Saloon is also set to open soon. If Hefley's on the chopping block indeed, one can only wonder which restaurateur will stake their claim in booming area.
