Certified Master Chef Fritz Gitschner will serve his last $200 burger this weekend. Gitschner is closing the doors to 60 Degrees MasterCrafted after brunch Sunday, March 8.
During the construction of his River Oaks restaurant, the City of Houston began road work along Westheimer. That was in 2013. A year and some months later, construction on the busy street continues. The chef/owner voiced his frustrations to local news station KHOU last week and shared how the ongoing work has negatively impacted his business.
Although Gitschner was somewhat optimistic he could weather the storm at the time, he has come to the hard conclusion to close his dream restaurant. The 60 Degrees MasterCrafted chef broke the news on Facebook today, revealing the sell of the restaurant to another owner and continuing to provide consultation services:
An important message from Chef Fritz Gitschner: 60 Degrees Mastercrafted will be closing. Please see the letter from Chef Fritz below.
Dear Friends and Customers,
It is with heartfelt appreciation I am writing to thank each of you for your support of 60 Degrees Mastercrafted, and for me personally, over the past two years.
It has been an incredible opportunity to serve you flavorful foods that hopefully showcased both my talents and my soul. I have loved every minute of every day.
Unfortunately, the restaurant has been sold and will transition into another concept. 60 Degrees Mastercrafted will be closing. Sunday, March 8th will be our last brunch.
While I am excited about new and promising ventures, it tugs at my heart to say goodbye to this special place, mainly because of friends and customers like you.
We will continue in the meantime with our business "Gitschner’s Productions" which encompasses our catering business "Trio" the consulting business "Culinary Blueprints", and "Nelly’s" Caramelized Pecans.
After some quiet time together relaxing and regrouping, Nell and I will make a decision of where we will go next.
You can follow me on my Facebook for updates on what we are planning next and if you like to get in touch with me you can reach me at 713-498-5017 or by e-mail at cbp1956@aol.com
I look forward to seeing you in the near future.
Have a flavorful day!
Chef Fritz Gitschner, CMC, AAC
