At Houston French mainstay Mockingbird Bistro, owner and executive chef John Sheely is shaking up the menu with a new lunchtime value proposition: $25 for two courses. While the restaurant has been dropping seasonal menu changes on the regular for most of its 13 years in business, this recent switch represents Sheely's desire to attract even more new business than average. "We are constantly amazed at how many first-time diners we have on a daily basis," added Sheely.
The menu is a mix of safe options and fare that will appeal to the more adventurous. In the appetizer section you’ll find steak tartare, a beet salad, and baby squid, while the mains include veal sweetbreads, a spring frittata, and Croque Monsieur. Visit Mockingbird Bistro for lunch, Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
