Stag's Head Pub to Close at End of Month; Chipotle Hosts Screening of 'Fed Up'

Also, the 2nd Annual Peli Peli Golf Classic will be held at Raveneaux Country Club and 888 Bistro Chinese's set to re-open later this week.

FOOD ON FILM — Chipotle Mexican Grill will be hosting a screening of the film Fed Up a documentary examining the obesity epidemic in America — on Friday, April 17, at Discovery Green on McKinney Street. Admission to the event is complimentary and the first 250 attendees will receive free chips and salsa to munch on during the flick. Chipotle will also be onsite serving up buy-one/get-one-free specials during the movie. Grand Old Grizzly will take the stage at 7 p.m. playing tunes from their new album and the movie is set to start at 8 p.m.

THE SHUTTER — The Chronicle has reported that local favorite, Stag's Head Pub, is due to close at the end of the month over a lease dispute with the current landlord. The longtime owner, Michael Holliday, posted the following announcement to the restaurant's Facebook page:

EVENTWIRE — Raveneaux Country Club will be hosting its 2nd Annual Peli Peli Golf Classic on Monday, May 4 at 12:30 p.m. to benefit the ORPHANetwork. The tournament will be followed by an awards ceremony and a dinner reception featuring South African cuisine. For those who wish to play in the tournament, the $200 individual fee includes a golf cart, the green fee, range balls, a goody bag, and admission to the dinner. Registration deadline is on April 25 and more information can be found at birdeasepro.com.

FIRE WIRE — Your Houston News reports that local firefighters responded to an emergency call at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 13 from 888 Bistro Chinese. As units arrived at the popular restaurant's location on El Camino Real, they found a manageable fire in the back of the building. Although the fire was extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported, calls to the restaurant have gone unanswered since that day. However, the owner of the bistro informed The Citizen that they should be re-opening by Thursday or Friday of this week.
