Table 57 Chef Leaves for New Cajun Food Truck; Julep's Kentucky Derby Party

KENTUCKY DERBY — Julep's Kentucky Derby party will extend cocktail service and julep carts into its front parking lot with a full food menu inside. In addition, Ben Berg, whose B&R Butchers opens downtown soon, will be dishing up his wares outside. The party starts at noon on May 2.

FOOD TV — Austin rock star Aaron Franklin's new PBS TV show, Barbecue With Franklin, will premiere on Thursday, May 21, on Austin's KLRM. Details here.

CHEF SHUFFLES — Allen Duhon, formerly executive chef of Table 57 in Tanglewood, has left the restaurant (inside the H-E-B) to focus on his own food: Cajun cuisine in a food truck partnership with the team behind Fat Bao. Culturemap reports that the new venture, currently called Maw Maw's Rustic, will serve fried chicken liver po' boys, skillet cornbread, and more.
