After rolling out in several other major U.S. cities earlier this year, Minibar, a new delivery app and website for wine, beer and spirits, launched in Houston today. The service partners with area liquor stores to guarantee delivery of booze within an hour for a $5 delivery fee. Note that they're waiving this fee for the first month. Mixers, lemons and ice are also available with no markup. Hours of delivery depend on the liquor store your goods are coming from.
As of today, selection spans 65 wine options, 340 liquor options and 39 beer options. Co-founder Lara Crystal says they are adding more products in coming months and are currently fielding requests.
"We started Minibar because we believe that ordering alcohol should be as easy and quick as ordering food and groceries," said Crystal. "We are excited to be in Houston and continue to build our Texas audience after an incredibly successful launch in Dallas last year."
The website has tasting notes, pairing recommendations and — coming soon — a "book a bartender" option, which allows you to hire a bartender to come help you host a party. So there's that.
