As Pour Society inches closer to a spring debut, more details are beginning to emerge about the gastropub from James Beard Award-winning chef Bradley Ogden. Recently hired as corporate chef for Ogden Hospitality's restaurants in Houston, Greg Lowry (The Rockwood Room, The Voice at Hotel Icon, Triniti) will develop the menu for the forthcoming Gateway Memorial City eatery. Now comes word from Houston Press that Ogden's latest concept has found its chef de cuisine.
Matt Lovelace will join Pour Society under the title of chef de cuisine, leaving his sous chef position at Paul Miller's Paul's Kitchen in Upper Kirby. Houston Press notes, "while Lovelace has appreciated his time working under [Paul K.] Lewis (executive chef at Paul's Kitchen), he says the new situation is a better fit for him." Lovelace brings his years of experience from previous stints at The Rockwood Room and Triniti where the new hire worked alongside Lowry. Additionally, Lovelace served as sous chef under Lewis at recently shuttered Osteria Mazzantini.
Originally slated to open as Hops & Harvest prior to closing its Las Vegas outpost, Pour Society is expected to make its premiere in May. The menu will focus on Southern cuisine in a moderately casual setting, while highlighting craft beer and high-end spirits.
