Crescent City Beignets are Back; Inside Dual-Concept Black and White

Crescent City Beignets re-opens in a new location, Zagat gets first look into Black and White and another ice cream recall. And other news you might have missed.

HILCROFT After a year of shuttering their River Oaks location, Crescent City Beignets re-opens later this week in the former Dickey’s Barbecue Pit at 6383 Westheimer, outside the Loop and just east of Hillcroft. [Swamplot]

HEIGHTS — First look inside dual-concept Black and White in the Heights from Hernan Garcia​ (1252 Tapas and Mexico’s Pizzabrosa) and Sven Hossfeld (Mexico’s Lampuga). The restaurant is located in the former Stella Sola space on Studewood. Black and White will be two different restaurants under one roof: one Mexican fare and the second European/Mediterranean fare. Opening late June. [Zagat]

WASHINGTON CORRIDOR — Upscale taqueria, Velvet Taco opens Monday, June 22, in the former bar The Rig at 4819 Washington Avenue.
