Spiked by the Scoop — Thursday, July 23 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. head to Yellow Rose Distillery for culinary and cocktail mashup of the chilled variety. Heavy hitters, such as Danny Trace (Brennan's of Houston), Rebecca Masson (Fluff Bake Bar), Patrick Ellis (Mobile Mug) and many more from Houston's food and beverage scene will compete in a competition involving adult shakes, sundaes and sandwiches. Awards will be given for people's and judge's choice.  The brain freeze will be well worth it with proceeds going to benefit Small Steps Nurturing Center. Best Damn Food Truck Festival Ever at NRG Park Over 30 different food trucks from around the nation will head to Houston for a meals on wheels extravaganza.Ticket prices range from $39 for General Admission (samples from all of the food trucks) to $82 bucks for early admission, which includes samples from all of the trucks and a souvenir shirt. Pre-Bastille Day — French Country Wines, a local wine shop in Rice Village, will host a free wine tasting with crepes and live French music in honor of parisian holiday on July 11, three days prior to Bastille Day. Bastille Day at Étoile Celebrate Bastille Day, the French national holiday that commemorates the start of the French Revolution in 1789, at Étoile Cuisine et Bar with a special dinner (complete with an accordion player) Tuesday, July 14. Guest Chef Jose Hernandez (Radio Milano) is joining Étoile's Master Chef of France Philippe Verpiand to prepare a four-course prix-fixe menu for one night only, with dish such as a thin goat cheese tart with heirloom tomato, roasted duck breast with nectarines, butternut squash and a spiced gastrique; and milk chocolate mousse with rhubarb compote and raspberry sorbet.
