WASHINGTON CORRIDOR — Having only celebrated their grand opening April 2015, Commonwealth has closed temporarily for restructuring. Expect a transition into a more casual atmosphere with bigger portions, a laid-back vibe and a new chef. Commonwealth's previous chef, Michael Sanguinetti is no longer with the restaurant. RIVER OAKS The Bird and The Bear closed over the weekend and sold to Relish Fine Foods, which has plans to open a new restaurant by spring 2016. The Bird and The Bear is the sister restaurant to the venerable River Oaks staple, Ouisie's Table, which will not be affected by the sale. [Chron]

MONTROSE —  Brick & Spoon, the two-year-old Cajun brunch spot near the Menil, has shuttered, details were not provided, however the West Alabama location has proven tricky for restaurants before. The company that owns the restaurant chain is searching for a new Houston location, but no word on where it will be. [CultureMap Houston]
