HEIGHTS — Delicious Concepts (restaurant group behind The El Cantina Superior and Pink's Pizza) announced The El Cantina Superior in the Heights has officially closed. Replacing the Tex-Mex spot will be a, "Brewpub and American Kitchen" led by brewmaster Erik Ogershok, who presently is the brewmaster for Real Ale Brewing Co. from Blanco. Expect an in-house butcher shop and pizzeria, along with beers from other breweries and Ogershok's own crafts. [CultureMap Houston]

DOWNTOWN Pappas Bros. Steakhouse has announced plans to open a new restaurant in downtown Houston. The steakhouse has an anticipated opening date of October 2015, making this new restaurant the third Pappas Bros. Steakhouse following its original flagship location on Westheimer and its second steakhouse in Dallas. [EHOU]

NORTH HEIGHTS Atlanta-based pizza chain, The Mellow Mushroom has signed a lease in the same area as popular foodie spots, Fat Cat Creamery and Hugs & Donuts. We should expect the chilled-out pizza chain to open summer 2016. [Houston Business Journal]
