Take an inside look at the recently opened Southern Goods in the Heights. The team behind the modern Southern cuisine with a heavy influence from the gulf created a comfortable and minimalist space with plenty of down-south charm.
Co-owners J.D. Woodward and Lyle Bento along with their team built a space that is meant to be a part of the community, with added touches to encourage locals to share news and good food. The primary hallway with one side of exposed brick and the other plastered with various papers on the wall is meant for anyone to post magazine articles, newspaper clippings, photos, recipes, and anything they'd like to share. The wooden tables were all handmade by the Southern Goods team.
Later this week a canopy will be erected outside to provide additional shade for patrons and eventually an outdoor patio with space for live music (in the back) will be added. The restaurant has been officially open for less than two weeks and has already made it to Eater's hot list for the month of September.
