Sneak Peek at Tarakaan in Midtown Opening this Week

Take a look inside Midtown's newest Asian hot spot, Tarakaan.

Tarakaan in Midtown is set to officially open Wednesday, September 16 for dinner and cocktail service. Expect a very seen and be seen crowd, along with an arsenal late-night DJ talent to transition the restaurant to lounge later in the night.

Visually, the space kept the 1980's facade of the former occupant, Knoll furniture, but with creating a chic speakeasy vibe with luxe Asian-inspired decor and deep red tones throughout the space. Art by Stephanie Gonzalez and Julie Worsham line the walls and an impressive statue of a giant Buddha surrounded by tea lights draws attention to the center of the restaurant.

While it's only dinner service for now, the Asian-fusion restaurant will add a lunch and brunch offering later in the coming months. Craft mixology cocktails will be accompanied by a substantial wine list. The inventive restaurant fare is from the mind of Thailand-born chef Micah Rideout, whose culinary training took place at the William Angliss Institute in Melbourne, Australia.
