Shannen Tune, the recently former executive chef of Revolve Kitchen + Bar housed within the ritzy Hotel Derek, has decided the time is ripe to play a new song. Tune's first solo venture is sans brick and mortar in a food truck dubbed Craft Burger.
The food truck will feature a menu of natural pucks including the Morning After Burger featuring candied bacon, crispy potato hash, a sunny-up egg, and Veldhuizen Redneck Cheddar piled inside a bacon-cheddar waffle bun. Guests can wash it all down with a maple bourbon ice cream-based shake spiked with pecan porter stout and candied bacon or a bananas foster-in-a-glass featuring spiced rum ice cream, caramel, and crème brulee'd banana.
"I have been thinking about starting my own business for a while," said Tune when asked about ending his 6.5-year relationship with the Hotel Derek.
"I have really enjoyed my time with Hotel Derek but I think that I had reached the point where if I wanted to continue to grow I needed to leave the comfort of the hotel setting. I have been provided with so much training and given so many invaluable tools [and] I will forever be grateful for the organization for what they have given me."
Tune hopes to have the truck rolling by the end of October. "I will be all over. Where there is a crowd of hungry people I will be there."

There is no word yet on who will replace Tune, so, well, stay tuned.
