It seems recently that NYC has been making a quick invasion of the Houston restaurant scene with recent news of Halal GuysBonchon and Momofuku all making appearances (permanent and pop-up) in H-town. But the moves are going both directions: Eater has been following the plans of an NYC expansion of Houston's own Pondicheri for over a year now. Recently Eater NY had a chance to sit down with chef Anita Jaisinghani and talk through some of the details surrounding the move, the rumors and the expectations.

Houstonians need no introduction to Pondicheri:  Considered one of the most beloved and progressive restaurants in town with a concept which doubles as both restaurant and bakery, it's no surprise that chef Jaisinghani wants to spread her wings out East. The full interview can be found here, but here are the details: A 100+ seat space at 15 West 27th Street in Chelsea will be the new home. The concept will focus more on to-go options and baked goods and catering to accommodate NYC's fast pace.

No opening date is set but stay tuned as more details unfold.
