The Melt’s Artisanal Grilled Cheese Sandwiches Will Soon Hit Houston

Oh yeah, The Melt offers burgers too.

There’s really no disputing the simplistic greatness of the grilled cheese sandwich, but a new-to-Houston concept will soon take your favorite sandwich seriously over the top.

Announced via release, The Melt will make its Houston debut at The Lawn at Baybrook Mall this month. The San Fransisco-based chain serves up “wholesome, comfort food favorites,” most notably a selection of grilled cheeses made with aged artisan cheeses. This is the first Texas outpost for the chain, which debuted in California in 2011 and has since expanded to 17 locations in Colorado and California.

If you weren’t already convinced of The Melt’s appeal, the chain has some pretty big fans. According to Eater San Francisco, Vice President Joe Biden, Beyonce, and Jay-Z have all feasted upon The Melt’s decadent grilled cheeses.

In addition to the location at The Lawn, a second Houston outpost is set to debut at Vintage Park Shopping Center in Spring 2017. The expansion will likely continue as the chain looks for appropriate locations in Downtown Houston and the suburbs — and beyond. “Expansion into Houston is an exciting step in The Melt’s growth, and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the Houston community and growing throughout the state of Texas,” said CEO Ralph Bower in a statement.

The Melt will officially arrive in Houston on November 21. If you can’t wait until then, stop by from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on November 18 or November 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a sneak peek that will also benefit two Houston charities.
