Houston is the second largest city to celebrate Fat Tuesday next to New Orleans, and here's a list of some Mardi Gras-inspired things to consider whether you're planning a party or want to step out on the town.

Sherlock's Baker St. Pub: Let Sherlock's throw you some beads. If you can't make it down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, head on over Sherlock's Baker St. Pub to celebrate "Fat Tuesday" on Feb. 9. There will be $5 hurricanes and a bead toss, if you're daring.

My Fit Foods: Health food grab-and-go My Fit Foods has crafted two new menu items inspired by the holiday. Forget the term "Fat Tuesday" and instead opt for handcrafted, delicious menu items that offer all of the flavors of New Orleans cuisine without the extra calories. Chicken & Sausage Gumbo - A delicious blend of Creole-style chicken breast and Andouille Sausage gumbo. Or opt for the shrimp creole - a ardi Gras favorite that's low in calories and high in protein. The meal includes roasted shrimp and fresh vegetables, topped with a spicy cayenne tomato-based sauce.

Bistro Provence: On Tuesday, February 9, Bistro Provence will be doing something, well.... French. Tossing the more American tradition of the Fat Tuesday pancake supper, this famed French Bistro has declared Fat Tuesday Crepe Day. All day long on this day before lent begins, Bistro Provence will offer all kinds of Crepes with a variety of fillings. The specials, created by executive chef Cedric Vernin and owner Genevieve Guy will feature the oh-so-Francais pancakes for both main courses and dessert.

Brennan's of Houston: Brennan's presents a NOLA-style Mardi Gras Celebration and a prix fix menu for $65. Chef Danny Trace's Mardi Gras specials include Mardi Foie Gras and Mambo King Cake, while the Valentine's Day menu features indulgent dishes such as Crawfish Stuffed Flounder and "His and Hers" cocktails

Three Brothers Bakery: Mardi Gras season is here, and Three Brothers Bakery is serving up its authentic Louisiana style King Cakes, complete with colored sanding sugar and hidden sugar baby. Along with the traditional King Cake, Three Brothers will also be offering its popular decorative Mardi Gras cupcakes and petit fours. For a twist on the traditional King Cake, the bakery has also created the Cheesecake King Cake - a delicious combination of creamy cheesecake with sweet King Cake sugar atop a soft King Cake crust.
