March 28th will be the last day of operations for Mr. Peeples steakhouse at 1911 Bagby in Midtown. The lively steakhouse burst onto the scene with a razzle-dazzle spirit and aesthetic that seemed to be straight out of the Las Vegas strip.
The space itself is quite breathtaking with an unassuming exterior and housed in a former Boy Scouts of America building, with the grey slick modern architecture which almost made one wonder what was inside.
But the minimal exterior was juxtaposed with one of the most vibrant and flamboyant interiors in all of Houston. A rainbow of bright colored changing lights and loud pumping house music (often provided by a DJ) really pressed in a night club vibe rather than a formal elegant steakhouse. So once inside you're wondering - Rave? Disco? Steakhouse?
"We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve Houstonians and have strived to set ourselves apart from other steakhouses with our extensive seafood program and innovative and unique design," said Landmark COO Joe Lenahan. We look forward to emerging as an exciting new venue in the near future."
Stay tuned for more details on what will pop up in the space next.
