PEARLAND – Killen’s BBQ has long been on the map for its stellar smoked meats, so a burger concept from owner Ronnie Killen only makes sense. Construction on Killen’s Burgers in Pearland is already underway, with an opening planned for May, just in time for National Burger Day. [CultureMap]

THE WOODLANDS – Houston-based chain Cafe Express has closed its Market Street location in The Woodlands, citing a dispute over the location’s lease in a statement on the restaurant’s Facebook page. Cafe Express’s 11 other Houston outposts are, at this time, unaffected by the closure. [EaterWire]

RICE VILLAGE – To celebrate its second year in business, Punk’s Simple Southern Food will host a crawfish boil on Saturday, April 9. $27 gets you a wristband which entitles the wearer to all-you-can-eat crawfish and beer from Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., which is a pretty solid deal when you consider the per-pound price of mudbugs these days.
