Spring is upon us which means it's time to have a survey at what restaurants are opening in Houston this season. As Houston's restaurant scene continues to blossom, we bring you some of the top picks from around town that you can look forward to. You'll notice a few still on the horizon from our Winter update. Oh yes, patio season is on it's way.
The pizza at Dallas' Cane Rosso is served Neapolitan style from wood-burning ovens. They are planning their first Houston locations in Montrose and the Heights this year. Our favorite is the Honey Badger - spicey sporessata with a drizzle of honey pairs perfectly with the wood-fired crust and melty cheese
Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Austin's Hopdoddy typically has a line formed wrapping around the corner of South Congress because they are the unrivaled local favorite. Opening in Houston in March, Houstonians can now get in line too for a variety of patties including beef, bison, lamb, chicken, turkey, tuna and black bean, along with countless combinations of toppings and sides like truffle fries.
Kenny & Ziggy's
Kenny & Ziggy's made the news in 2015 by being featured in the film ,Deli Man. In 2016 they make headlines again adding a new second location in the heart of West University this year.
Le Colonial
Another NYC favorite will invade Houston. Le Colonial will arrive in Houston in late Spring. A French-Vietnamese restaurant which dresses up classics like pho with oxtail and beef tenderloin, Vietnamese coffee and French pastries.
Morningstar
David Buehrer, the man behind Greenway Coffee and Blacksmith on Westheimer will open his second concept which isn't a far departure from the first two: Morningstar will showcase coffee and donuts. Located at 4721 North Main Street in the Heights next to Foreign Correspondents.
Steak 48
Although there's been a couple of rumored name-changes, Phoenix's Steak 44 is bringing its revamped version, Steak 48, to the River Oaks district this spring.
Thirteen Pies
With multiple locations in Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta, Thirteen Pies arrives in the River Oaks Shopping District this winter.
Yauatcha
The Hakkasan Group brings Yauatcha to the Galleria this year after tasting the success of other global locations.
