Inspired by Babe's Chicken Dinner House in Roanake, Texas, chef Chris Shepherd and his team will make over Underbelly into Korean Chicken Dinner House for one day only on May 1. The event takes place to raise money for pastry chef Victoria Dearmond's close friend Emily Rhodes Beard to help pay off remaining medical bills from cancer treatment. The web page for the event states, "Emily was Victoria's family, which means she was Underbelly's family. And we're going to throw a party to help ease her family's burden as best as we can."
From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on May 1, guests can grab a seat in the dining room or take the special menu to go. Korean Chicken Dinner House will offer the namesake Korean fried chicken or ssamjang-crusted smoked short ribs. Both proteins come with kimchee slaw, Korean macaroni salad, and Korean-style green salad. Meals are $45 a person. Reservations are not required (nor accepted) for this event.
