CultureMap reports that Vice President Joe Biden and wife Dr. Jill Biden brunched at Down House over the weekend, taking advantage of some pretty killer spring weather. The Bidens were in town to cheer on their respective teams (him Syracuse, her Villanova) at this past weekend’s Final Four games. For the record, VP Biden dug into a crispy waffle created by Chef E.J. Miller.

Bonchon Chicken is slated to open soon in Katy, and it appears that a second outpost of the Korean fried chicken chain is on its way to Pearland. Plans for the Pearland Town Center, a mixed-use development that will also house Freebirds and Steak N’ Shake, indicate that Bonchon will land there in the near future.

Ritual, the new farm-to-table spot that will set up shop in the former La Cantina space, appears to be inching toward an opening date in the Heights. A Facebook page for Ritual was set up last week, and has since been teasing forthcoming menu items from Executive Chef Jordan Asher. Currently in the works are an andouille terrine with black roux jam and pickled okra, along with red beans and rice and pork trotter, ostensibly from Ritual’s in-house butcher shop.
