Frank’s Pizza is working on a major expansion. The favorite late-night slice spot in Downtown Houston has long been (since at least 2014) working on Frank’s Backyard, a new beer garden planned for the space adjacent to the restaurant. Now, it appears as if the new concept is well on its way to an opening date.
A video posted to the Facebook page for Frank’s Backyard shows heavy-duty late night construction on the space, which will occupy what was formerly a parking lot for Frank’s Pizza. Scope out the progress below:
Plans for the space approved by the Houston Archaeological & Historical Commission indicate that a door will be constructed to connect the kitchens of Frank’s Pizza and Frank’s Backyard, along with a door that adjoins both dining areas.
This isn’t the only progress that Frank’s Pizza is planning. A delivery-only location is currently in the works at 914 Prairie Street in the building formerly occupied by Falafel Factory.
According to a tweet posted to Frank’s Pizza’s Twitter account, both concepts will be open before the end of the year. Eater has reached out to Frank’s for more details, and will update this post when available.
