Step Inside Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Houston's Newest Fancy Burger Spot

House-ground Akaushi beef + boozy milkshakes await

In just a few short days, Houstonians will get their first chance to chow down on some of the best burgers around with the arrival of Hopdoddy Burger Bar. Officially opening in River Oaks this weekend, Hopdoddy is an Austin export that’s been serving top-quality burgers with swanky accoutrements for more than six years.

The founders have been very interested in Houston since the very beginning," said Hopdoddy VP of Operations C.B. Gersch. "We felt this was a great opportunity for us to bring a 5 star dining experience at a 2 star price. We’re next to Cartier and all these really expensive places but we consider our burgers like the Cartier of burgers. It’s really what we do."

Hopdoddy will serve up an impressive list of 12 gourmet burgers, including sushi-grade tuna, Akaushi beef, and chicken all ground in-house. Sides of Kennebec potato fries smothered in green chile queso or topped with truffle oil and Parmesan offer a decidedly decadent side option.

Hopdoddy will throw open the doors on Monday May 30 -- just in time for the long holiday weekend. In the meantime, scope out Eater photographer Ellie Sharp’s first glimpse at what may be your new favorite burger joint.
