The rumors have finally been confirmed – famed sushi restaurant Nobu will open a location in Houston next year.

In The Know Houston speculated on the arrival of Nobu earlier this month after spotting a mention of the forthcoming outpost in a Simon Property Group document. According to that document, Nobu will be just one of thirty five new concepts (both retail and restaurant) that will take over the former Saks Fifth Avenue space at the Galleria.

Yesterday, a spokeswoman for Nobu confirmed the Houston location to the Houston Business Journal. This will be the second Nobu restaurant in Texas – an outpost has been open in Dallas since 2005.

Also confirmed for the Galleria’s massive overhaul are Shake Shack and upscale Mediterranean eatery Fig & Olive. Expect for details on even more exciting new additions to the Galleria’s dining scene to coming in the following months.

At present, Nobu is on schedule for a late 2017 debut.
