Just in time for the summer’s most unrelenting heat, Steel City Pops has officially opened its doors at 420 E. 20th Street in the Heights. The new-to-Houston popsicle shop quietly began slinging pops over the weekend, bringing in droves of locals dying to cool off.
This location is Steel City Pops’ first foray into Houston's bustling food scene, though the chain currently operates seven Texas locations including outposts in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin. The chain will also bring their roving popsicle carts to Houston, which you'll be able to find at local music festivals and private events.
The icy offerings at Steel City Pops are divided into two categories – creamy and fruity – and feature creative flavors that you won't find in the freezer case at the grocery store, like Champagne white tea, avocado, and lavender lemonade.
If this weekend's traffic is any indication, expect lines at this popular new spot in the Heights when you head there for a little refreshment. In the meantime, scope out photos of your new favorite way to cool down above.
