Vegetarians and plant enthusiasts, rejoice. Back in June, Eater reported that Denver’s Taja Indian was packing its paneer and heading to Houston. Now, the “fresh-to-order” chain is officially making its debut.
A post to the new-to-Houston concept’s Facebook page indicates that Taja Indian will open its doors today at 5 p.m. at 2510 Smith Ranch Road in Pearland. The fast casual concept is known for its healthy, largely vegetarian Indian dishes like aloo gobi and tofu curry. Carnivores shouldn’t be leery, though, as classic tikka masala, korma, and saag served with chicken or lamb is also on on offer.
The expansion to Houston marks Taja Indian’s first foray outside of Colorado, where it currently operates one location. The Pearland outpost is the first of three Houston-area locations in the works, though no locations or opening timeframe for the additional two restaurants have been announced yet.
In the meantime, you’ll have to head to the ‘burbs to try Taja Indian.
