The arrival of Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Houston was met with a great deal of fanfare. Houstonians lined up for hours to try the Austin-based chain’s meaty wares, and it appears as if the trend has stuck. Which may be why Hopdoddy is looking to build a bigger presence in H-Town.
Off-and-on (but generally accurate) food blog In The Know Houston reports that Hopdoddy Burger Bar has secured permits to begin construction on a location in Rice Village. The chain’s second Houston outpost will reportedly occupy the former Baker Street Bar & Pub space.
Hopdoddy is the second big burger score for Rice Village dwellers. Late next year, Shake Shack will also open a second Houston location (the first is headed to the Galleria) a stone’s throw away.
Eater reached out to representatives from Hopdoddy Burger Bar for details on the new location, and will update this post with any new information.
UPDATE: We received a response from Hopdoddy Burger Bar, who confirmed that a lease has been signed on the Rice Village location. No opening timeframe is available just yet.
UPDATE #2: Per a news release, Hopdoddy Burger Bar has announced that it will open its Rice Village location at 5510 Morningside. The second Houston location is expected to debut in February.
