But why?

RIP, beautiful meat case.

Fans of all things meat will be saddened to learn that Pappas Meat Co., the casual steak spot where you could choose your own cut from a bevy of beefy options without having to put on a suit and tie, has abruptly closed its doors.

CultureMap Houston reported the closure over the long weekend, as Pappas Meat Co. served its last steaks on Monday night. Notably, all Pappas Meat Co. employees have accepted positions at the company’s other restaurants, which (fortunately) means that closing the doors won’t result in any job losses.

While this was a difficult decision to make, we hope to be able to revive this great concept in another location in the future,” director of marketing Christina Pappas told CultureMap. “With two more restaurants opening soon in Houston, as well as one each in San Antonio and Austin, we're excited about the opportunities that will be available for all of our Team Members in the months to come.”

No word yet on whether or not the concept will be “revived” in Houston, but in the meantime, you’ll have to shell out a few extra bucks at the original Pappas Bros. Steakhouse for a taste of those prime meats.
