Back in March, Treadsack restaurant group’s Leslie Ross opened Canard, her wildly experimental, always interesting cocktail bar in the Heights. Now, the much-beloved mixologist is searching for her latest project.
CultureMap Houston reports that Ross has parted ways with Treadsack, where she helped build the ever-growing restaurant empire that, in addition to Canard, includes Hunky Dory, Foreign Correspondents, and Bernadine’s.
It appears as if the separation was amicable. "Leslie continues to be a friend,” said Treadsack co-owner Chris Cusack. “I’m personally excited to see her creative talents spread to other programs around Houston and beyond." Not to read too much into things, but does that sound like Ross may be moving on from, or perhaps expanding outside of Houston? Who knows.
Ross has not yet announced her next big move, but did tell CultureMap that she’s currently got projects in the works and “hopes to announce something soon.” In the meantime, Canard will stay open with its current staff sans Ross.
