Chef Ronnie Killen is, undoubtedly, one of Houston’s most familiar culinary faces. Now with four meat-focused concepts open — Killen’s Burgers, Killen’s Barbecue, Killen’s Steakhouse, and STQ — it appears as if the chef is plotting expansion of one of his most popular restaurants.

CultureMap reports that Killen’s is tentatively searching for a second Houston-area location in which to serve up his line-inspiring barbecue. The expansion is, at present, in the earliest of stages as Killen searches for the perfect location for the spin-off. Reportedly, he’s looked at potential sites in Sugar Land, Katy, and Houston proper.

Also in an effort to give more people a chance to get their hands on some Killen’s barbecue, the original Pearland location will add dinner service on January 19. In addition to the top-notch smoked meats, you’ll also find other Killen’s favorites like chicken fried steak and an as-yet-unnamed selection of “steaks and chops” cooked on a wood-fired grill.

Killen hasn’t announced a plan for when a hypothetical second Killen’s Barbecue could open, but expect for it to take a while. The chef is looking for an “old building” that he can revamp, and we all know that building a new restaurant is not an easy (or quick) process.
