Houston and its surrounding areas have no shortage of great barbecue joints, but a brand new smokehouse in the suburbs brings a whole lot of star power to the city’s smoked meats game.
Announced via its Facebook page, The Caboose BBQ has officially made its debut in Alvin at 113 E. Sealy Street. This opening is particularly notable because one of its main investors, Wade Bowen, is a legend of Texas’ music scene. The restaurant officially kicked open the doors on January 20, and on both Saturday and Sunday, had sold out of pretty much everything on the menu by the afternoon, thanks to popular demand.

Of course, Bowen won’t be manning the pits, but he does plan to show up at The Caboose whenever he’s in the area. According to a comment on his Facebook page, Bowen will be at the restaurant on February 17. Scope out Bowen’s full opening day post below:
Since I started playing music, I’ve dreamed of having a place of my own that served high quality BBQ and good cold...

In addition to the smoked meats by the pound and sides, you’ll also find a menu of snacks like brisket-topped tater tots and smoked pork tacos that you can enjoy on The Caboose’s patio alongside fruit-infused vodka and cocktails like the PinaPalooza, or a boozy riff on a pina colada.
