In the aftermath the remarkable drama that went down behind the scenes at Foreign Correspondents, the popular Thai restaurant that closed its doors last month, chefs Apple & PJ Stoops have been largely quiet. Now, they’re making a big comeback.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the duo of chefs will kick off a new pop-up series called Sap Sap at Ladybirds on 5519 Allen starting this weekend. The pop-up started with an idea from Ladybird’s partner Adam Dorris, who reached out to the newly-independent chefs with an interesting plan to showcase their unique take on Thai cuisine.
According to Dorris, the Sap Sap pop-ups are currently scheduled to be held every other week at Ladybirds, and will feature a menu of curries, stir-fries, and noodle dishes paired with beer & wine to match. Dorris also says that there’s a possibility that Sap Sap could transition into “something more permanent,” so keep your eyes peeled for that.
The inaugural Sap Sap will kick off on Sunday, January 15. Don’t be surprised if folks line up to snag a taste of the flavors they’re already missing from Foreign Correspondents.
